Back when I was in high school and college, I used to take care of hamsters. My parents brought us up as animal lovers, to love them in all shapes and sizes --- slugs included. So anyway, I love hamsters to bits that I even ended up taking care of 3 families simultaneously (all of them gave birth at the same time, what joy!) with the babies subsequently being sold to pet shops after a few weeks. I took my favorite hamster, Caramel, and his family with me on vacations. I'd lug them through check out at the airport with their babies in tow. Caramel was so docile he' d sleep in my bed and he wouldn't even try to escape. I will try hard to look for old pictures of them for you guys.
Up to this day when I am reminded of my poor Caramel (he died after 2 years sometime between 1995-2000), I feel sad. Hamsters and Chihuahuas will always have a soft spot in my heart. And this why, visiting a pet shop (or a shelter) is heaven for me. All those pets that need adopting...*sigh*. If only I had tons of space at home I'd buy them all.
This is part 2 of my picture story escapade with my Dad. While buying some flea collars for our pets at home, I wandered around the pet shop and what do you know, families of hamsters were on display:
Gaaaah! They were so cute! I asked the sales person if by any chance they would be willing to sell the whole family to me. Of course he said no, but I guess it was worth a shot. Tee-hee.
Okay. Remember the pregnant mama hamster? Well, we took so long to leave the store mainly because I was holding the other hamsters for sale and Dad was checking out the Flowerhorns (he's a fish guy and has 2 aquariums at home). Before we left, I wanted to say goodbye to the hamsters and guess what happened!!!!
I really apologize for the video orientation, I was so excited I just filmed everything in one go. If you look closely. you can make out tiny hamster babies. Congratulations to mama hamster #3! :)
My Dad and I spent one whole day in Midtown (near my sister's office), and even though I'd like to explain ALL the things we did, I think the pictures I took today would better describe how enjoyable my day was with my Dad (as they say a picture is worth a thousand words) ;D
Shots taken at The Old Spaghetti House (I love their Salpicao!):
Shots taken at Collezione, we wanted to check out new stocks of the "My Pilipinas Series" by Rhett Eala:
Shots taken after we've had frozen yogurt. The Beard Papa store just opened so....
And this was taken in the train on our way home:
While walking in Robinsons Midtown and having my favorite Fragola yogurt, I went inside The Face Shop just to check out their new stuff. They were, at that time, doing inventory so the store was in shambles. But at least the good thing about this was all the shop girls were occupied and they didn't mind me much (I don't like nosy shop girls who probe too much and suggest items I don't need).
This little pot of Tinted Lip Balm + Exfoliator caught my eye. I don't know if this is a new product but I certainly haven't seen this before. This is how it looks like:
The tint and exfoliator at stacked in one compact / handy-dandy container that will definitely slide easity ito your bag's inner pocket, or your makeup kit.
This clear tint looks iridiscent under the store lights, very pretty. But the questions is, what kind of tint will it give my lips? Better yet, will it transform into a tint at all?
I forgot what comprises the exfoliator, but I'm guessing some apricot kernels may be the ingredient. I basically use a soft toothbrush to exfoliate my lips so lip exfoliants are alien to me (sorrry). This product is not even on TFS's website yet.
So the verdict?
See the sheen on my hand? I applied the lip tint and 30 minutes into it, I still wasn't seeing ANY color change. Bummer. It says on the box that one should apply the exfoliant first, then the lip tint. So I am guessing since the lips are slightly pinkish already (due to the rubbing of the exfoliant), then it would have more of a pinkish hue to it when the lip tint is applied.
But bottomline is, I didn't see any color change when the tint is applied alone. Why they call it a tint in the first place confuses me. You'd getter a better lip tint with Prestige or Smashbox, review here. And anyway, having to apply a tint with your fingers is just not my cup of tea. Thank god for the tester because if I bought this product with my hard-earned money, I would be so disappointed.
I've blogged about the new accessory shop, Accessorize before and on our recent visit my sister and I found some really good stuff. We kinda dismissed it on account of we've got too much accessories already, until we found out they were having a 30% sale. Eep, there goes my pay check.
So these are the items we went home with:
Oooh I love these! And just in time because my eye doctor told me that I protect my eyes everyday with sunglasses, specifically those with UV protection. So I got these cos the frames are grey (it goes well with everything), the lens are wide enough to give my eyes adequate UV400 protection and finally, the tonal lenses are love. Original price is Php 1050 ($23) but the discounted price is now Php 770 ($17).
And finally after much prodding, my sister went home with her very own hippie/shabby chic pearl headband priced at Php 600 ($13).
Accessorize is located at Robinson's Midtown and Trinoma :)
